With March here now, I’m putting away my spicey, warmer diffuser blends for something light and refreshing.
It’s easy to find a lovely spring diffuser blend, but I didn’t see any specifically for St. Patrick’s Day—but then, what does St. Patrick’s Day smell like? Here’s what I brainstormed on…
Options:
- Corned beef and cabbage….well, you probably wouldn’t want that in your diffuser! 😀
- Rainbows. What do those smell like? Probably Cinnamon, Wild Orange, Lemon, Lime, Peppermint, Lavender. Working on that one and will get back to you!
- Gold coins? Hey, everyone likes the smell of money, but most of us would rather have it on our hands than in the air.
So, after those flawed attempts at the perfect St. Patrick’s Day spring diffuser blend, I came up with this one, my blend inspired by the Irish blessing:
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Here’s what’s in it:
Balance, which has Frankincense, plus woodsy and grounding oils. I thought the forest-y motif was appropriate for the Emerald isle. Frankincense is well known as an oil used in prayer and religious ceremonies. I think St. Patrick would be familiar with it!

Spearmint is energizing, just what you need for starting a journey or just taking on the day! It blends nicely with the wood tones in Balance, too.

Spikenard has also been used historically for prayer and meditation, and it smells mossy and earthy–like how I imagine the gorgeous green hills of Ireland after the rain. Note, this one is especially pungent, so one drop is plenty!
And a bonus for sticking with the Irish theme: Balance and Spikenard oils are naturally green! 😀

There you go; a St. Patty’s Day inspired spring diffuser blend–may it bring blessings to you and your home!
